Campus Life at Northwood

Northwood: A Community Unlike Any Other

Northwood School in upstate New York is stands out among private co-ed boarding schools because of its small size, personalized approach to student learning, unique academic and co-curricular offerings and its location in the Adirondack Mountains. These features overlay a student experience based on being a part of a community unlike any other. As a school of under two hundred (200) students, Northwood offers a chance for each member to be well known and to make an impact on the school community. Northwood's location within Adirondack Park and its proximity to the olympic facilities of Lake Placid, New York, gives students the chance to share experiences and create bonds which extend well beyond their time on campus.

A Northwood School student's experience is defined by the relationships they form with their peers and the faculty while living in the vibrant and beautiful town of Lake Placid, New York. Having the ability to take advantage of the wonders of the Adirondack Park, walk Main Street with friends, or explore Lake Placid's Olympic history and facilities ensures that Northwood students' days are unlike those of students elsewhere... and it's days like these which keep Northwood School a part of our students' lives well beyond graduation. It is 'Under the Cobble' that students build confidence, seek purpose, ask important questions, and wrestle with the issues of our time. The tight-knit community and school's small size is well suited to provide students hands-on experiences, guidance and support through their educational journey, and the tools they need for success in college and beyond.
